New Year Intention Setting

The new year is almost upon us! Last year Jay and I took time at the beginning of the year to set goals and intentions for the year ahead. What we didn’t do, is write out a plan of how we could accomplish those goals. We accomplished some of them, but others we fell short - and that didn’t feel so great. This year I decided to create some worksheets for personal use, but then they looked so cute that I couldn’t help but share them with you all.

Here is how I intend on using them, but you may use them how ever you see fit. The first page contains a highlight reel, I am going to be writing down one highlight from each month of 2019. If you own a business, maybe you could have one sheet for personal, and one sheet for business, or combine into one. The rest is pretty self explanatory, with a little mind map of what you’re hoping for in 2020.

The next page asks us to look a little deeper into 2020. Let’s start by just listing your dreams, and DON’T let your brain get in the way here. Write down anything and everything that you can dream up.

The final page is to get a little more specific. I believe intentions are easier to stick with than resolutions, so this is how I choose to set myself up for success in 2020. A resolution may sound a little like this: “I will go to the gym three times per week.” In January you’re crushing your resolution, and you feel great. In February you get sick, and you don’t go to the gym for two weeks. Suddenly you start to get the feeling that you have failed at your goal, and you’re no longer motivated to return. Gah! This sounds all too familiar, it’s a trap that many of us fall into. So, what would an intention sound like instead? “I honour my body and am my healthiest self.” This intention allows you to change what “honouring” your body is in that moment, and what activity would allow you to be your healthiest self. Under each intention, I have left space for “actions,” this is where you could write things like: attend group classes at the gym, try a yoga class, go for a walk in the evening before bed, allow my body to rest etc.

Feel free to download and print these images for your own personal use. Once you have filled them out, I would love to hear what your intentions are for 2020! I will share mine with you all in the New Year!

Namaste,

Sophie.
